Claudette Lajam, M.D.
Dr. Claudette Lajam is an orthopedic surgeon with special interest in joint replacement, revision joint replacement, and sports medicine/arthroscopy. She performs total knee replacement, total hip replacement, arthroscopic ACL reconstruction and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair for the shoulder. Dr. Lajam also performs the latest Gender Specific knee replacement surgery for women.
Dr. Lajam is Assistant Professor of Orthopedics at the Hospital for Joint Diseases-new York University School of Medicine. She attended medical school at Cornell University Medical College, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor society. There, received the prestigious Connie Guion Award and was a Papanicoulou fellow in Anatomy as well as the President of the Stimson Surgical Society.
She completed her residency training at the world-famous Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. There, she was involved in cutting edge surgical techniques and research. She was a member of the Orthopedic Education Committee as well as the Graduate Medical Education Committee during her residency. She has numerous publications on the topics of knee reconstruction and sports medicine surgery. She has spoken about joint replacement and sports medicine at national conferences. She is also involved with community outreach and community lecture series.
Dr. Lajam is fellowship-trained, having completed her post residency training at the Insall Scott Kelly Institute at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. She participated in the care of professional athletes from the NBA and WNBA.
Dr. Lajam is an avid cyclist and athlete. She served on the Board of Directors of the New York Cycle Club and was a major sponsor of a women's cycling race team.
Currently, Dr. Lajam is in practice in Manhattan and Queens, NY. She performs surgery at The Hospital for Joint Diseases in Manhattan, North Shore Forest Hills hospital, Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens and is Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at the New Parkway Hospital in Forest Hills. She is fluent in the Spanish language.
